We are a not for profit whanau/teacher co-operative working partnership and committed to providing equitable, accessible early childhood educatio within the community.
We provide a child centered, adult guided teaching environment. We promote healthy self image, respect of others, trust, empathy and autonomy.
We believe young children learn best through self directed play and review ways that we can structure the learning environment in ways that meet the children's needs.
We value and encourage whanau contributions to learning and life at the centre.
We support raising children's awareness of and care for the environment in our centre and our teaching practice.
We believe in the unique place of Maori as Tangata Whenua and the practice of meaning integration by learning Te Reo and becoming increasingly familiar with Tikanga. We promote and celebrate success for children and whanau who are both Maori and Tau Iwi alike to develop strong identities in their learning journey.
We acknowledge that Brooklyn Early Childhood Centre has a diverse multicultural community; we respect the unique qualities of each culture and its customs and beliefs as a tool for shared learning in developing understandings of the wider world. We seek culturally based collaborative relationships within the BECC community and whanau.
